A Siren Song

Last spring, I mentioned how although green was the accent color I'd used throughout many rooms in E's and my house, I had found myself craving blue. Living between two places, our house and apartment, I chose to move forward with incorporating blue into our interiors through the purchase of a blue velvet sofa for our apartment.

Maybe a story for another time, but bringing this specific piece into our lives was undoubtedly meant to be, and even after months of living with it, our sofa still makes me smile daily. The blue. The velvet. The tufting. The shape. I've been head over heels in L-O-V-E. I have grown more and more excited to settle into a new home where I've planned to make blue a prominent color in our main living space on account of this beauty.

Wrapped up in my new and exciting love, I've been ready to leave green behind without a second glance. And then I came upon this photo.

Homes & Gardens

Just when I thought I was over it, this room sings a siren song beckoning me back into the arms of green. I love everything about this space from the various shades of green to the beautiful framed botanical grouping.

Looking through my saved images, I next uncovered these photos that also speak the praises of green-- specifically, a lovely mint hue different than the accents threaded through our house, which may be exactly why these spaces turned my head.

I have no intention of being a fickle lover to our blue sofa or my plans for its future home, but these images are a gentle reminder-- there is room enough in my heart to still have affection for my old flame, green.

Haha, I know what you mean about having your head turned by a color you thought you were over. That first photo reminds me of the first tear sheet I ever saved, it was a room decorated by a man who fell in love with a paricular shade of pastel mint green that his hotel room in Venice Italy had been painted. He recreated the color, re-doing it several times till he got it just right! Talk about obsessed, it's easy to see why this color could inspire that !

Although I love green, I've never really used it in decor (possibly because I grew up in a house in shades of green). These photos are just beautiful. I adore that frame wall.

such gorgeous rooms!

I go through a similar thing all the time. One day I want to paint every wall in the house white, the next i want to paint everything a rich, dark, dark color.

It's so hard to decide!

yes, i could definitely live with those mint green doors! my color faves have definitely changed over the years. in my first house, it was all about earth tones... red, browns, tans, sagey greens. i swore off oranges and blues. this house... i've more blues, aqua, and oranges as accents. and am about to paint my red chest grey.

have a great weekend, courtney! pam
