Among the Trees

When I was little, I was captivated by the Disney film "Swiss Family Robinson." I loved the storyline and the characters, but what I most loved was the idea of living in a treehouse.

Treehouse life seemed utterly romantic and adventurous, and I can remember thinking that Fritz and Roberta were wise when they decided to stay and begin their joint life on the island.

While I can't say that the idea of full-time treehouse living seems quite as fantastic as it once did, I still love the idea of a treehouse escape.

It seems like a perfect tranquil place to step away from the hectic pace of everyday life, whether in your own backyard or perhaps even as a quaint vacation home. I would happily load up with books, magazines, and snacks and sneak away to read and nap in this treehouse featured on Cote Maison.

Should you tire of being among the leaves, a daybed close to the ground would be a perfect accompaniment to your getaway in the trees.

Courtney-
This was the first time I visited your blog and the first thing I saw was those amazing treehouses. I have been dreaming of living in a tree house as long as I can remember. A while ago I found this amazing get away in Australia that is a tree house hotel. Hopefully one day I can get there! Here's the website!

You can actually purchase those as your own little get away in the trees!

Oh Courtney, I am so with you in your love and thought process of treehouses! We always had them as kids, made sure my son had one, and as adults have vacationed in them, and long for trees big enough in our own world to house the perfect one! one of these days :)
Have a wonderful weekend and Easter.

I used to LOVE the Swiss Family Robinson!! The best movie ever (: My Dad used to tell us pirate stories when we were little too, so that was a huge attraction to the movie, but the tree house was amazing too! They had it all figured out...It's funny how we never grow up. We still love "playing" in tree houses (:

Thanks for sharing these pictures, I was obsessed with the movie as I kid! I always thought the tree house in that movie was beyond amazing.

Oh my, NOW I know why I bought this house!!!

I too was charmed by the Robinson's treehouse home. I'd forgotten. When I was house hunting my realtor told another that I was looking for "a treehouse". And I got it.

I look out the doors to the deck straight into 200 year old oak branches.

Now I know it's due to the influence of the Swiss Family Robinson. Thank you for helping me to remember.

Ohhh...I had a "double decker" tree house growing up. And I LOVED it! And reading this is EXACTLY what I'd like to have today!

Wow: How I would love to curl up with a good book in the shade on a sunny summer afternoon. Perfection, in my opinion.

I too loved the idea of the tree houses living in Swiss Family Robinson but now I'd never be able to do it. It's so high! I do love the idea of just being close by on the ground. Beautiful post.
