Just a Note

You might be an Internet addict when... you discover Panera Bread closes earlier than you'd expected on a Friday night, so you decide to try to get the Wi-Fi signal from your car before leaving. Yes, I made E sit with me for 30 minutes on Friday while I got online before the WiFi signal was shut off by the staff!

As many of you know, E & I have been in the midst of a move over the last few months. I am happy (and rather embarrassed) to say that we finally moved into an apartment last week, which we will have for the next six months.

As happens during moves, I am at the mercy of companies waiting for installation of services, and it is absolutely killing me to wait for an Internet connection. I am suppose to have service starting this upcoming Friday, but until then, my posting (and commenting) may continue to be a little sporadic. Just wanted to let you know where I've been this last week and why I may be rather absent this one as well.

I have decided that I am hopeless without my computer and Internet access; I feel as useless as a typewriter is in modern society without them. I am, however, still enamored with the idea of typewriters, so I figured that, for now, I'd leave you with some of my favorite typewriter images as of late.

Oh I have to say I understand where you're coming from. I moved into the place my b/f and I will be until the end of April just two weeks ago. We are in the middle of boxes as we're deciding to what to keep packed, what to unpack. Eek! Not fun. Keep truckin'! [I hope the internet signal is strong in your new apartment].

Good luck!

I can't imagine going a day without my computer. I would be living at the nearest Starbucks until they hooked me up!

congratulations on the new apartment, hope you'll have fun arranging everything (try to think the design point of view rather than how many boxes are left to unpack? always helps I find!)

it's scary how we're all so dependent on the internet, and i think we're taking it for granted too, this will make you laugh:

just the other day I took my laptop with me on a car journey to J's sisters for dinner & thought i could do some blogging while in the car! and only realised there are no internet connection when i tried to get on to the internet! J certainlly made fun of me, my excuse is i'm too dependent on the wireless internet! ;)

There seems to be a theme going around ... . I just posted on my computer(s) being down and my recognition that I had more than a small Addiction to address!
Good luck on your move ... Judith

Oh no - I hate that! Moving always causes a bunch of turning up, but it's kind of exciting too. Best of luck - wish I can send you over some wi-fi!

I adore typewriters. I did a post about them myself just last week. They're so vintage and lovely.

Best of luck with all the instals and getting everything squared away! That is, for sure, the worst part of moving. If you need internet, you can always come to my house, seriously. Invitation open anytime!! Also, remember Antidote on Studewood? That's a great spot too. See you at lunch!

Oof--I had the same thing happen when we moved last august! we would roam the house looking for an unlocked wireless signal and curse the fates when we couldn't find one.

Glad to hear that you are getting settled though!
