Black & Gold: At Home

I have been completely enamored with the combination of black and gold for quite a while (see here). While it's a palette that could easily veer toward gaudy, especially when used in interiors, it also can be classic and traditional, a bit rock n' roll, whimsical or even just simply done.

Although I'd love to see a room with these colors as the predominant scheme, there are plenty of ways to incorporate this combination into your home on a smaller scale.

If this palette strikes your fancy too, know there is more black and gold ahead!

  1. Nice pics Courtney;
    I like the wall behind that bed, it looks like a good place to curl up and disappear into! At lest for a short time.
    And those anthropology birds.... nice!

  3. Oh, awesome! We're trying to buy a house and I'm already plotting painting the dining room blackboard color and using lots of gold frames and vintage chandeliers.

  4. My, my ... .
    I've got black on the brain this week.

    Actually trying to think of the best approach for asking my painter / husband to paint the big wall in the living room black.

    Will let you know how it goes.
    These images are great inspiration!

  7. I've done black and gold in my house too. I like it with pink and black and white. You've found some really fantastic pics. That trunk looking nighstand is so unusual.

  9. I love this post! I am pretty sure the first pic is from a hotel in Paris, but I don't remember the name. I remember the image from when I was researching hotels for our trip in 2006.

    I think I am in love with that library! I'd love to spend my whole day there!

  11. So... I could make a comment about every photo you've included here but I'll limit it to one:

    That headboard mural is to-die-for. I'm in love with it.

  12. Tipping is a controversial subject, mostly because it’s so darn confusing.
