One With Nature

While looking through the portfolio of California-based Backen Gillam Architects, I was taken with one project after another, and one of the things that struck me most was how connected each space felt to its surroundings.

There is a blurring of lines between indoor and outdoor living spaces in their work, and I love the wide expanses of windows and doors that tie living areas to nature.

    omg i love the wood on the ceilings! screw it, im going to start nailing boards to my ceiling (this only being humorous when you realize i have 12' high exposed concrete ceilings...so basically impossible) but ill do it dammit :)

    Each of these homes is gorgeous and fabulous indoor/outdoor living!
    I love way the landscaping has become part of the "room" like the vines in the Portola Valley house!

    Love that seamless indoor/outdoor living ... . perhaps a bit difficult in the reality of heat/humidity &
    buggy atmosphere of Houston ;-)
